Structural funds as financiers of the Six City projects
The Six City Strategy is a part of the implementation of Finland’s structural fund programme for sustainable growth and jobs 2014–2020. The European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), the Six Cities and the State of Finland along with other project implementers are funding the Six City projects to the tune of nearly 80 million euros. In addition to this, projects are funded by the European Social Fund (ESF).
Funding is primarily sought through open calls. The Six Cities decide jointly which projects are funded.
For the ERDF funding, the funding authority is the Helsinki-Uusimaa Regional Council. For the ESF funding, the funding authority is the Häme Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment.
