In Turku, the Six City Strategy projects have been integrated into the City’s strategy, as well as its competitiveness and well-being programmes. Turku uses the projects to draw attention to the City’s own spearhead projects, such as the Smart and Wise Turku project. The Six City Strategy also supports the goal of Carbon-neutral Turku 2029.

In Turku, the Six City projects have been integrated into the City’s strategy, as well as its competitiveness and well-being programmes. The projects drive the Six City Strategy forward. Turku uses the Six City Strategy projects to draw attention to the City’s own spearhead projects, such as the development of the city centre, Kupittaa Science Park and Smart and Wise Turku. The Six City Strategy also supports the goal of Carbon-neutral Turku 2029.

The City of Turku has used the Six City Strategy to develop new ways of co-operation and opened the City’s interfaces for other operators. The Six City Strategy projects have also promoted co-operation within the City, across divisions. The companies’ involvement in the projects has demanded that the City must be prepared to open up its operations. This way, the urban environments act as platforms for companies to develop their services.

The Six City Strategy operations can be seen in the construction of the Skanssi area, the implementation of the Joki Visitor Centre, the signposts at the Aurajoki riverbank and the city centre, the design of the new Ylimaaria smart school building, the business co-operation in the Topinpuisto circular economy centre, and the low-carbon distribution experiments at the Puutori area and the city centre. The City of Turku has also taken action to improve youth employment, for example by identifying business-focused education and coaching needs and then responding to these needs by focusing on coding competences.

We want to develop the City of Turku to be smarter, meet the real needs of residents through services and offer development opportunities for companies. We are committed to continuing this development in the future.
